Miss Russia 2009 :Sofia Rudieva lose title, Svetlana Stepankovskaya is new Miss Russia 2009

Nude photos of Miss Russia 2009 Sofia Rudieva that were circulated online days after she was crowned prompted the organizers to strip her of her title. Svetlana Stepankovskaya, the first runner-up will now go to Miss Universe and the second runner-up is more likely to compete at Miss World.

The nude photos of Sofia caught the Miss Russia organization off guard and considered the entire incident as a "stain" to its reputation. Russia is one of the countries that are closely watched in the international pageant. In 2008, Russians made the cut in all major four pageants with the exception of Miss International, and even took the Miss World crown.

June 21, 2009. Ksenia Shipilova, the 2nd runner-up in the 2009 Miss Russia beauty contest was selected to represent Russia at the Miss World competition to be held in Johannesburg on December. The selection was made when the Miss World Organization refuses to accept the entry of the current Miss Russia winner Sofia Rudieva -due to her controversial photos.

Scandal of Miss Russia 2009, Sofia Rudieva appear on the internet last monday morning in a specialized website called “Perfect10″ which features nude photographs of models where Sofia is fully exposing her breasts in full nude.

It’s still unknown if Rudieva will be dethroned or will not represent her country at the Miss Universe 2009 Pageant to be held in Nassau, Bahamas on August 23. The Miss Russia Organization will be releasing a statement soon about this issue.

Other women with similar photos competed in Miss Universe: Joyce Giraud placed 2nd run-up (Puerto Rico 1998), Helen Lindes (Spain 2000) placed 2nd run-up and Evelina Papantoniou (Greece 2001) placed 1st run-up. They all posed nude and controversies surrounded their participation.

Miss Russia Universe 2009

The new Miss Russia was crowned Saturday, March 7th, 2009. The event, which was honoured by the presence ofMiss World 2008 Ksenia Sukhinova and Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza, saw the crowning of 18-year old Sofia Rudieva from St. Petersburg. 50 contestants completed for this title.

1.78 m Rudieva will now represent Russia at the Miss World 2009 and Miss Universe 2009 contests in Bahamas.
