The annual Miss Iraq Beauty Pageant crowned it's new winner last night of March 17 at Nineveh. For year 2009, she's Zeena Zahawi, a 23 year old Model and Fashion Design student from Baghdad. She will be expected to be the very first representative of Iraq at the Miss World 2009 Contest to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa this coming December.
22 year old Public Relations Officer from Baghdad, Aure Arnulf was crowned as Iraq's Maiden of Beauty. She will be representing her country at the Miss Earth 2009 Pageant.
Other winners are Galit Sharabani who won Iraq's Queen of Grace, while Iraq's Teen Queen was Sandra Sassoon. The Audience Favorite Award was received by Corina Moshe Haim.
Other delegates who made it in the Finals were: Corina Moshe Haim and Alina Shohet
Candidates who made it in the Semi-Finals: Anna Horesh Baher, Rania Agassi, Shani Ben Noah and Yael Yadgar.
All the 20 contestants competed in Swimsuits, then top 10 was chosen and compete in the evening gown round. Then, the top 6 was named and they will have to answer the final question.
Producer and organizer of the Miss Iraq Pageant was Talat Model Management. The winners will get a chance to travel and speak for women's rights, defending them against abuse and domestic violence.
